We invite you to step into this vibrant hub and become a part of a larger community conversation. Here, every corner has the potential for new stories, innovative ideas, and collaborative ventures.
At the center of the space is Clark Richert's renowned sculpture "Quadrivium.” The large triacontahedron combines color, light, and motion to bring unity and hope to Denver; and create a space for discussion and learning.
Currently in a developmental phase and not open to the public, our space is alive with the creative energy of artists and collaborators crafting its future. What will you create at Densely Packed?
“If you’re doing something and don’t know what to call it, call it art.”
— Clark Richert
A little history…
Amy Harmon and Clark Richert materialized a long-standing discussion about the best way to mark a spot on the Denver City Canvas. Their focus was on introducing and spreading ideas about art as a tool for community building and connection, responding to the innate human need for a sense of belonging. The culmination of this twenty-year friendship and ongoing dialogue, along with their experiments in community activation, was the conception of Quadrivium. Designed by Richert and unveiled in July 2020, it emerged as a beacon of hope in difficult times, celebrated on July 3, 2020, with Cleo Parker Robinson Dance and the Colorado Symphony.
Now, we're thrilled to announce a new chapter for Quadrivium, beginning with a conversation with incredible collaborators, artists, innovators, and community members.
Who’s in the Lemonade House?
Each month, we’ll spotlight a unique artist collaborating in our space. Witness creativity in action and get inspired by their work!
Meet @GammaGallery - a distinguished local street artist whose journey with Quadrivium has evolved remarkably over the years. It all began with a bold act of graffiti on the sculpture, a moment that, while controversial, sparked a unique connection with its creator, Clark Richert. From an initial act of recognition from Clark that Quadrivium might be on Gamma's turf to an apology from Gamma, a deep, collaborative bond was formed. Their story magnifies our understanding of art as a connector: How art can heal divisions and bring communities together., Gamma's creative spirit and goal to build a Gallery has not only aligned with but helped to reignite the dialogue and purpose of Quadrivium.

Remembering Clark Richert (1941-2021)
Clark Richert, a pioneering figure in the art world, co-founded the legendary Drop City artist commune in 1965 near Trinidad, Colorado. This commune became a symbol of artistic collaboration and innovation. His early embrace of technology led to significant contributions at the groundbreaking 1968 Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.
Post-Drop City, Richert played a crucial role in establishing the Criss Cross Art Cooperative and the acclaimed Criss Cross Art Communications journal. His work during this period laid foundational elements for the Pattern and Decoration movement, delving into profound concepts like the essence of space, the intricacies of time, and the underlying connections in similarities. Richert's art not only paralleled major scientific discoveries like non-periodic tiling, buckyballs, and quasi-crystals but also inspired the innovative Zometool toy.
Richert is best known for his large-scale, geometrically patterned paintings, but his artistic journey is marked by continuous evolution. His repertoire expanded from intricate pattern paintings to vivid landscapes and figurative pieces, and his mediums ranged from traditional canvases to expansive wall and pavement murals and even kinetic art forms, including spin paintings, computer animations, and the notable animated sculpture, “Quadrivium,” completed in 2019.
Clark Richert's career is a testament to a life spent pushing artistic boundaries, constantly exploring new mediums, and capturing the interconnectedness of art, science, and community.
Painter, muralist, sculptor, video-animation artist, and teacher based in Colorado.
